anguished

The spoon tinkles against my coffee cup. No amount of sugar can make this sweet. I vacantly stare out the gloomy window, Not one thought I dare to have.
The rain drops race each other to the edge of the window; Leaving a silvery path; I watch as they race. I dare not think.
I look down and there it is. A yellow envelope with my name I don't want to open it I don't want to acknowledge it's existance
But with shaking hands I slowly tear it open And as I reach in to grab the letter My missing tumbles out And with that my heart ached harder
The letter slides out with ease My eyes search for the first line And there it was Oh there it was, was my eyes swell with water.
"My dearest sweetheart, I know this is hard. But please smile for me as you read this. Do you remember when we first met? You fell down some steps and landed at my feet. And your first words to me were 'Sorry I was just falling for you' I can see you smiling right now [and he was right. I was smiling] As you read this You have to know that I am missing you so. Though your feel alone, I am here right behind. I hug you everyday And even though I have passed on I will always have: One hand on your heart and; One hand to wipe away the grief and fear I am waiting for you my darling. My love deepens as I await for you to return to my side."
The dammed tears burst and streams down my cheeks Plump droplets of tears land on my bare arm. My throat choked with sorrow I manage to hear muffled sounds
I look up from letter And see a weathered waitress with the warmest eyes And with a lulling voice she says : "Oh honey; I'm sorry to see you have to grieve. You must be feeling low. You keep coming by here. I make sure I keep picking you up from the floor. Can I get ya another coffee?" I look at her silently and nod
Her hand gently rubs my shoulder I turn away and look out the rain splattered window And return to my vacant stare of thoughtlessness

I really liked this. The imagery was brilliant. You were able to suck the reader in and take them for a ride. I'm so sorry if this is based on reality, but thank you for pouring your emotions into such a wonderful piece.
