You told me you loved me
You said you would never leave
You promsied the feelings were genuine
They say words are cheap
So I bought everything you said, every letter
I hoped the investment of my heart
For your words would pay off
All I had was what you gave me
Even though I knew the returns weren't equal
You called and I came
You tossed a bone and I purred
You led and I followed
I left when you pointed to the door
How was I supposed to know SHE was there?
The one thing I refused you, she gave
When she started showing, rumors started too
The one I heard the most, I didn't want to believe
Finally I asked her, I wasn't prepared for the pain
You broke my heart
You betrayed my trust
You killed her, we all know it
Now you want my trust, my love, my all
What you don't know, is you still have it
I never took back the pieces of my heart
But now I want them back
Little by little they come back to me
While you're doing her, I'm doing repairs
No longer is my shattered heart yours
You ask questions about my friends
You talk to my friends behind my back
You claim she was only a fling, honest!
How can you ask for trust to be given?
Especially when you don't give it back
I learned my lesson, never again
Will I give something in mint condition
And accept it back a broken and battered
You wonder why the walls and coldness
You still cry her name when you think you're alone
You have to accept your consequenses
On the outside I say I'm sorry
I say there's no one else but we won't work
Inside I see his face and feel his arms, not yours
Quietly I give you a kiss goodbye
But what I feel is nothing, nothing at all
Friends say I'm depressed and I really miss you
They don't know they're only half right
I'll never miss you, I won't let myself
I want the pieces back, so I can give them to him
He may never have the whole thing,
But some is better then none
He'll never be my all, but he can still try
