Secret

How would you feel if you were taken from your parents at a young age?
Devastated?
Hurt?
Sad?
Angry?
Betrayed?
Any of these feelings I had felt at a young age.
A young age around 8.
You see, my childhood was always a sad story.
A sad story that was never meant to be told.
When I was taken, I had lived with my grandparents.
Those two years, felt like a lifetime.
Especially when I had a grandfather who did things to me.
Things that should not have happened within that matter of time.
What he did was wrong.
Wrong of him to do since it was incest.
And it was statutory rape.
Rape.
Such a word I'm afraid to use.
Among what had happened I can no longer remember until today.
Today of remembering my grandfather touching me.
Touching me like my baby cousin 4 years of age.
This not only happened once but, twice.
Three.
Maybe more.
I had been holding this in for 6 years and I regret it.
Regretting I should have told someone.
Well, that time is now.

That was such a sad, sad poem, Babi...

Unfortunately, this story is like many others who have bore their share of abuse. I think it helps to just let it out, and poetry is a great way to do this.

At such a young age, who can blame you for keeping it a secret. It's a montsorous thing that adults can have over the little one's particularly when they misuse that power.

Thank you for sharing, well done!

Keep your chin up, :)
