i have a mother
she lives far away
i spoke to her once
i don't remember the day
lost to her heirs
in a pretend land
she thinks deep thoughts
beaten by her own hand
beautiful inside
distasteful on the out
speaks love in her heart
crushes souls with a shout
lost little girl
or troubled grown woman
we haven't a clue
there's no food in the oven
missing and longing
for maternal comfort
we sit here idly waiting
not even a retort
where art thou?
oh mother
five babies left in the cold
where art thou ?
our mother
these tricks do get old
i miss you, my mother
the hugs are not here
there is no other
why are you not near?
