A Soldier's Prayer

Contributed by jmakuer on Monday, 11th September 2006 @ 12:51:02 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

its another sweltering day for more battles to fight
as the sun emerge and divorce the night
i pulled out my guns and knives
ready to fight, and take others lives
just to make sure my friends
and i make it through the night
but before I do so, i knelt down and prayed
asking god to forgive me, and bless my day
as i go out and fight this battles today
hoping to finish fighting before the night chase away the day
striving to win the fight, and come back home to USA
again, and again, i kept kneeling asking god to watch me as i pray
forgive all of my sins, guide me and bless my day
as i strive to fight for my country USA
hoping to finish this fight so i can go home today
it's time to sleep, I've been relieved
closing my eyes, trying to fall in deep
souls of those I've killed began to weeps
now I am up, and can't go to sleep
its alright though, i must suffer to defend my land
i accepted it when i swore in and raised my right hand
took the oath and gave my self to die for this land
to defend what i believed in just like the other men
so while i am here please make me strong
to fight my battles and right whats wrong
Amen.
