My Plea.....I am not the terrorist

Contributed by crazyn on Tuesday, 12th September 2006 @ 05:43:05 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

You see me walking down the street, you confront me
You say I am the one.
The one that caused this pain.
The one that bombed the train
I react with anger. And you get hostile.

Is the hostility a sign of your pain or is it to intimidate me?
You say I am the one.I refuse I have the right to be
You cant accuse me for that.
You swear at my religious symbol its just a hat

I walk away from you to the other side of the street.
You call me names, but I am just avoiding tension.
The old man passing by shows no emotion.
I feel the fire burning in my belly.
I want to shut his mouth forever, but thats what he wants me to do.

Wasnt I at work too when it happened?
Would you have said the same things if I died too?

I must admit I feel guilty too.
That I happen to share the same religion with these people.

But I reject their faith because mine is better than theirs.

Well if you are in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, I hear you loud and clear. I have seen with my own eyes, just what you describe. Cruelty. Racism. I am ashamed of my government. Ashamed of some of my "fellow Americans". Profiling is wrong. Though it is happening in this country more and more everyday. Lots of things anymore can deem you a terrorist. Apparently I fall under the title as well. I smoke Marijuana..(I saw the commercial where I contribute to terrorist organizations) WTF LOL I also have sent letters to my government protesting this war. Now my name, they say, is on a list. (Laughing again at my freedoms) I say hold your head up high. Great write, that stirred some emotion. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura

don't worry about close minded jack asses...they have no clue what they are talking about. Most likely they are just inbred back hills rednecks that feel the need to hear themselves speak.

(And no I'm not being a "racist" to anyone that lives in the mountains...I live in the mountains and always have and always will, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there are freaks among us, and that goes for everywhere.)

Your poem was sad and I'm sorry you have to deal with these types of people.
