I know about the cross I carry,
I can tell you the pain,
I can cry on your shoulder,
I can tell you about the tears that fall like rain.
I can call you up and let you know,
I can write you a letter and then,
But I will have to carry my cross,
How long, I don't know when.
I can't describe the cross I carry,
If it has color I don't know,
Would I like to paint it,
No, I don't think so.
I wouldn't want to hang a picture on it,
To decorate it and make it look fine,
But I do have a picture that is carved on my mind.
The picture of a man who died on one,
I know His cross was bigger than mine.
