MY LONG HAIR

Contributed by moldwarp on Wednesday, 13th September 2006 @ 10:34:45 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

everyone has taste
big small
stocky or tall
you loved long

after this mess
this mess of us i grew
i grew my hair long
for you
brushing my fingers through
dreaming of your smile
you adore me again
it's been a while
soon it became relative
every inch marked the months
that you have not noticed
braiding the days you've been gone
washing a slate that's been clean
for already too long
i'll tie it back sometimes
to feel like me again
and let it grow
grow until you come home
grow as if you've never left
as an untamed vine
a nuisance of a beauty
until so overbearing
it's cut short
or dies unprotected
in autumns first frost

but who new that ****** was
so strong
mocking every pessimist
who thought it's demise was met
is seen to be blooming a new life

Hmmmm. Interesting write.....the hair usuage thing very cool. (I read this for the lame reason that I have long hair...Yeah....I know....LAME )The poem was stinging. I'm glad I stopped in to check it out. The last stanza made me f**** smile.
Peace, Laura

I really liked this poem. I, like the other commenter, was drawn in because I thought "OOH! I have long hair too!". Turns out to mean a lot more than that.

8/10, mostly because I prefer capitalization(sorry, I'm picky) :D
