The day I first held you in my arms
and looked upon that perfect face
I was to young to know how precious
how perfect that moment in space
Now your hazel eyes light up
with joy illuminating the room
the end of youth is pending for me
but your young life will take off so soon
I can't describe your smile my love
or the way that it makes me feel
or even why your special my dear
but I can certainly say that it's real
I can't believe you're turning 8
your just growing up too fast
I know I can't keep you young forever
like a butterfly under the glass
you've already made me so proud of you
so much pride inside I might burst
and the fact that you live so far away now
well you don't know how that hurts
but I keep a picture near by boy
I still see you every day
you are my shining star so bright
you always take my pain away
you've added so much to my world
now you're the one too young to know
but dear cousin I hope in time you see
I try in every way to let it show

I love you dearly Ethan, Happy Birthday buddy!
