He picked the flower and held it in his hands the stem rolling back and forth between his thumb and finger the warm intensity of touch rushed to the very tips of the petals so long without the sun the flower was on the verge of death one last chance at life, at happiness, and at fulfillment so many other flowers in the field and he picked this one He observed it's structure so closley, held it so softly a fragile plant once purest white now brown around her edges How many storms had this flower seen? Often starved and deprived all it longed for was a little tender care, a cooling drink, and some sunshine Now it would be strong again, nothing could harm it It would stand taller than it's neighbors who towered above and seemed to climb for the sun His glance shifted and rested upon a sleek snow white daisy who smiled beneath the sky And he lay the tiny flower in his hands down, broken from it's stalk to be trampled in the ground here it could only gasp for breath, and never dream of finding a home inside anothers gaze One last breath, the last pure white petal tarnished, everything fades...
