Whispers in the Wind

A cold wind blows so that the tree tops sway; Their branches reach out As if attempting to grasp the air. Blanketed by the gray dismal sky, The flowerless hill is eerie and unsettling. Dark slabs of granite, weathered and cracked, Protrude the earth at grotesque angles. They contain some illegible words, A mystery never to be solved.
A tilted cross, a cracked obelisk, And open book without any words. White marble with green moss, And granite, once sparkling, now gray. Flowers once beautiful Have become overgrown weeds; And trees once kept in perfect form Have become obtrusive giants.
As I place a red tulip by each somber stone, I feel uplifted and almost peaceful inside my soul, As if each spirit embraced me for remembering them. And as I walk away, back up the hallowed hill, Past hundreds of people in eternal rest, I can hear them whispering in the wind.

Woah, this is almost a bit unsettling.
My favourite stanza would probably have to be the last,
though I don't think I can explain why.
It just feels so.. powerful.
*shudders a bit*
Thankies for sharing this.
Kat.
