Facing the light 1978 Dieter Schwertberger (DE ES)
I think too much on what is gone, and all the things still to be done but more and more I dwell on when the zeitgeist seemed much simpler then.
Never mind the darker times, when families caused the greatest crimes, and left like footprints in the sand the nightmares I can hardly stand.
So soon gone those energies, and callow youthful reveries that made me feel so innocent, with more in front than what was spent.
And so on spins the twisted thread of what recycles in my head, where memories in which I dwell can play to heaven and to hell.

Wonderful Spike, enjoyed this immensley. You have such a power with words. But some memories can also be blessings. We just have to decide which we choose. Thank you for sharing. Sue x |

Oh my dear Spike.
This was heart-wrenching, my friend. To live life without the memories of painful past moments ..
what a concept!! I found myself lost within your words, dear poet. It's all too eerily familiar. Perhaps,
it is our incessant need to understand the happenings in our past, that plagues us most and not
the memories themselves .. questions often arise when we seek closure, (and closure is not
forthcoming). I have many things I'd LOVE to say to certain "memories" but, I fear, shall never have
the opportunity. And as time continues on, those "incidents" demand less of an answer. The present
is where it's at, my friend. Dweller is a perfect title for this, S. And absolutely so!!
I feel ya~ ...I truly do.
~Breezy
(admiring your word usage .. zeitgeist ya got me with that one! :P) |

Well, man, I've looked forward to reading this one since you mentioned it.
A fine piece, indeed. The rhyme is impeccably handled, and the overall format suits it well. The kind of sense this evokes is powerful for me. And that piece of art is good - I think best as a small, almost thumbnail, image, too, as it doesn't overshadow the poem like a big huge image might.
Keep it up!

You've done it again. You have truly captured my attention. I don't know too much about poetry, but you are one to look to. I appreciate your work very much. |
