A Puddle in the Moonlight

selfstruggles

Under the moon, Shame lingers in the pale light. What have I become?
Walk this lonely street, Cast out into the darkness, What have I done?
Out of breath, Unwanted tears fall, And I used to think I was strong.
Five years and counting The war goes on, And now must I question, Have I been wrong all along?
Should I give in, Buckle knees to kneel in praise? Impossible; still too strong is this hate.
Who am I? Why me? After all of this, is it still too late?
Say that through these many battles, You have been right. But was it worth breaking me down, Into nothing more than a puddle in the moonlight?

Interesting write. It's very thought provoking, but with so many questions can you be satisfied with the answers?
Eternally Punished,
