Me, Myself and My little Man...

Contributed by oneir8dude on Monday, 9th October 2006 @ 11:42:52 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

I sat today talking to myself, back when I was fourteen
I enjoyed visiting with me and enjoyed my life as a teen

As I watched myself walking away
I thought of a question I should say

Let me ask you before you leavehow do you think I turned out
I turned and said youre a good dad thats what it is all about

In the moment of the day I watched myself play ball
I can remember back when, back when I did it all

I helped myself do my homework at the table
I even helped myself work on my car The Sable

As my day ended and I gave myself a kiss goodnight
I watched me walk away till I was out of sight

My day was beautiful and filled with joyful memories
Of my life as a kid, dont go so fast I beg and plea

I live vicariously through my son
I am holding my youth and having fun

He looks just like me and has my thoughts
I guess I gave it to him in all I taught

When I look in the mirror I see an older version of my little man
When I see him growing into himself I am his biggest fan

I will always be proud and hold him on high
So with his future he can take off to fly

My son you are my Breath, My life, My little man

Bill, You teddybear *smiles*. What a wonderful write. This is Craig, right? Nice pic, although it looks like the flash blinded the poor kid. LOL I hope you've shared this write with your son, it is very touching indeed. You have a big heart, big guy. Thanks for sharing with us.
Peace, Laura

A couple fine men here:) This is a moving write, we talked about the importance of what the adults do and dont do in our life, you are a great father! This is one of many traits and qualities I admire about you so much.
The poem is a delight, precious to be exact. I hope you shared this with your son he will treasure it always.

Sometimes it can incredibly scary watching these smaller, walking, talking versions of ourselves go off into the world. Others times, it can be incredibly beautiful as your poem so lovingly portrays. May your son continue to grow into you and may he someday have as much pride in his son as you do in him.

This poem made me smile and think so much of my own son and how I feel. What a great write ... you've captured so many emotions .. and I'm still sitting here smiling thinking about your words ... that makes a great poem - well done ... Jan
