If Only Love Was Just Loyalty

Contributed by Chamaron on Sunday, 22nd October 2006 @ 12:57:08 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

We fight so well.
Sometimes I push your buttons
Just to hear you yell,
Just to hear the passion in your voice,
Just to make you question your choice.
In the end, you always come home,
You know it would be too hard
To carry on alone.

Words get in the way,
Only actions tell what we truly want to say.
Heres your morning breakfast
As I flash you a smile,
Though Ill tell you its you I hate,
Youll know the truth all the while.

Our demons are too difficult to swallow,
But in our silences, we tend to feel less hollow.
In the same house, where undefined hatred of our pasts
Plays hide-and-seek in our hallways,
We will fill in between the gaps,
Though we wear our shells most always.

That day I promised you with ring and dress,
I was lying, but do not care any less.
I wont truly love you forever,
Nor be able to always stand by your side,
But Ill be here waiting for you
To come back every night.

Can't live with them, can't live without them, think that's what you are trying to say. Hope you can work it our between yourselves.

  • Woah, such a thought-provoking write.

I love the honesty portrayed in this,
how even though you can't love him forever,
you'll still be there to greet him every night.

    Loyalty indeed.

    Thankies for sharing this. *hugglies*

    Kat.

I thought I'd venture into your world and read more of your great poetry, and, as usual, you did it again !. This one is really one of my all-time favorites in your poetry. Your verses just seem to flow perfectly in each stanza and the subject/story behind your write is very unique.''But I'll be here waiting for you to come back every night''-----sealed with perfection.

This piece is not only put together very well, but you have broched a rather delicate, yet all too common story.
You definately have a flair here.
