It was a train ride
With the ash and soot trudging through my hair
It was a dark time
And I descended to my seat and saw you sitting there
I absorbed you
Seemingly impressed
I listened with attention
Grudgingly depressed
I drank all my bourbon
I drank all my wine
I drank away all my sorrows
Until the conductor yelled, "End of the line!"
You never even waited
'Til I returned with my drink
Into my sorrow I wonder
I fall headfirst into the kitchen sink
I stayed alone that entire night
Bleeding from the head
I think I'm changing my mind
But still I'm never dead
I need to find a doctor
Mend the cracks and dents in my brain
Stitch up all the emptiness
Don't bother with the pain
No doctor's in winter
No doctor's in spring
Take another swig
Take another swing
Headed to the station
Bridge out 10 miles ahead
My eyes are bright and I've been drinking
For the life of me, I couldn't find an ounce of dread
Such a waste of potential,
This train of tragedy
I am pulled from the wreckage with a smile
Because my drink didn't get the best of me
