One By One, They march in line, A confident look that hides the fear of never going home.
Mile Upon Mile, They walk with guns, Finger on the trigger waiting for the next ambush .
Man By Man, They pile the deceased up high, Only hoping that they will never be thrown on top.
Letter By Letter, A message is sent back home, To the wives and families that have been left alone.
Stone Upon Stone, The coffins in rows, Buried side by side as they once stood together in uniform.
Tear By Tear, A pain that will never cease, For when your son has died at war, we shall never rest in peace.
