Sins, Lies, and Revelations

Would you think me evil if I told you God didn't exist?

That we are the masters of our own destiny?

True, as I walked through the desert wastelands of my mind, I prayed to something, anything, to take me away from there.

But sadly the only answer I received was torment and pain.

So I came to the realization that no-one was above us, looking down with pity at what we had done to ourselves.

The famines that plague us.

The disease that destroys our bodies.

If we were made in His image, why are we so frail and weak?

Why do we cower in the face of the reality of our own mortality?

Yet we go to the churches and stare with blank and uncaring eyes as the preachers behind the pulpit tell us of hell, fire, and brimstone.

I wonder to myself, have these so-called "men of God" looked around and saw the same things I see everyday?

People living on the street, fighting for every scrap of food they find?

People killing their own children in cold blood because "The world is such a horrible place"?

Women, men, and children left alone because of the legal system that sent their loved ones away because it was manipulated by some fraud who claims that what he says is the gospel and we are the liars?

To these people I say open your eyes and look at the world around. If you do not see the evil and wickedness that I see then you are as blind as the eyes of your God.

We are in Hell! What you see as the place of sin, of evil, of the Devil himself, is the world that spins beneath your very feet!

One need not look far to find the sins the preachers tell us about every Sunday.

From the drug user next door to you to the minister's wife who lays down with the pool boy while the "man of God" leads his flock into the caverns of Hell with his lies.

We as humankind make sin. We are the sole proprietors of evil.

Superbia...Pride

Avaritia...Avarice

Luxuria...Lust

Invidia...Envy

Gula...Gluttony

Ira...Wrath

Acedia...Sloth

Where else can a few human emotions land you in the hands of Hell?

Nowhere else but religion.

A thing that has killed millions in it's existence.

So think twice before you mutter your prayers, and wonder...for the rest of your life...if they were ever heard.

Deeply thoughtful write, but might I suggest you try & find a faith in the world you can call your own outside of the monotheistic teachings you seem to resent so much. I find them quite suppressive myself...anyways, good write, write on...
