Can't help the tears from falling, can't help my heart from tearing apart & can't help the thoughts of misery. Control over my facial expression is easy to fake over the mask but hidden underneath it's a sad & scarred face. Afraid to take the mask off, afraid to show to the world my face of sadness. Nobody needs to know the truth that lies beneath the mask, only the one who wears it from fear of people. The mask always covers a face with so much pain but the eyes filled with emptiness can't be fooled. The hidden mask will always remain part of me but who dares to see the real face, I don't think anyone but me.

Reminds me of a quote, "If a person wears a mask long enough, he tends to forget who the person was underneath." Anyway, I like the poem and how it is written. Things of that nature tend to be written from the heart with raw emotion, so the end result it perticularly along the true definition of poetry, as the expression of the soul. :) |
