Christmas Orange

My fingers slip under the
contours of the outer covering
peeling away the fragments until
it is free,
naked
within my hands.
I hold the round globe,
marvelling at its symmetry,
brilliant hue
and soft vulnerability.
The acrid scent,
leftover from the peeling,
leaves my mouth watering
as I gently separate
the delicate sections.
The smoothness of its skin
slips against my tongue
as it fills my mouth.
I close my eyes
and slowly,
ever so carefully,
press down.
Beads of pleasure explode
against the roof,
filling my mouth with
its sweet, sticky essence.
As is slides down my throat,
I sigh with anticipated delight.
I breathe.
My eyes remain shut
until,
my eager fingers begin to search
yet again,
for another piece of orange.

I can see why your other poem got deleted, lol. Too hot to handle. You certainly know how to tease the mind of your reader~

Talk about appreciation of an orange! Metaphorically it would be banned in Boston! Beautiful use of sensuality.
