Closing the Door on Love Cynthia Edgerly 2005
Two souls embraced a wider world, when our lives became entwined so many, heady days of love with kisses strong as wine when we cast away that Eros veil for friendships cloth instead, wed keep our hearts at distance till wed end up in your bed mistakes were made, we didnt care our relationship was set most times we would remember, sometimes we would forget.
Until that fateful argument, when you ran into the rain my pleas for you to stop and turn were shouted out in vain so many days and nights I thought youd reconnect in time, all the demons that were yours had suddenly become mine then it came to let you go the distance formed and set sometimes I did remember you, and sometimes I did forget.
Now you make this overture, the prodigal friend returns but too late to open healed wounds on which my world now turns you still hold fast to your choice your right to up and leave all our history mattered none thats what I had to grieve I feel a terrible sadness too, a trailing of regret sometimes I will remember you, and sometimes, I will forget.

This is VERY well done, very flowing and creative.
I really like this alot, as cliche' as that sounds, I really do!

Brushed with such tender sadness and vivid images, emotions running throughout that made the heart skip a beat and feel such pain while reading.
Beautiful

I love this line, S ~
when we cast away that Eros veil
Eros .. one of my favourite Greeks ..
As for the work. The perfect rhyming and metre added
to the flow of the piece. The message here is forlorn, but
in some way .. so very meaningful. Those last two lines
grab me like none I've read in quite a while.
I've missed your work, Spike. I wish Time would allow
a more genial usage of my existence .. seems I am
never granted the simple pleasures lately ..
(everything is so rush rush rush)
Glad to have read you tonight. This was so beautifully sad ~

You're so darn talented, Spikito. I've yet to come to conclusion on what impresses me more... you're ability to continously offer well crafted pieces of varied subject/style that are so consistently well executed - or - all the fabulous nuances that seem so naturally embedded in your work.
Here, though - without question - it is the tone, the honesty, those hugely impactful last four lines of each stanza... and... *sigh*... the italicized "will" there at the end that blew me away. One would have to be heartless or clueless to not feel something when reading this.
Nailed it, you did - again.

Hey there, thought I'd return the favor of your being the first person to comment on my stuff.I read several of your posting and decided on this one to comment.
I can very much identify with this poem, but I am too much a coward to post romantically inspired stuff! The last line says 50% of the message; something I try to do but not near so successfully.Good job and thank you. |
