It started out so good.
You held on like a child
Your hand wrapped tight around mine
Like you would never let go.
I don't know what went wrong
Somewhere along the way
I lost you, or left you behind
Or maybe it was you that left me.
I kept walking on that path
But you had just stopped.
I called for you to come
You pretended not to hear.
I went back to figure it out,
To see where you'd gone.
But I couldn't find that place,
That place where I went wrong.
My hand parted from yours
But you never reached back for it.
I held it out for you to hold
But you had already turned around.
I looked for you, I did.
I cried those hopeful tears.
I replayed the scene again & again,
Went over it a thousand times.
For now, I'll just keep hoping,
Praying I will see you.
And longing for that feeling
For that love I thought I felt.
I hope that you will find me
I know one day we'll meet.
But will you reach again for my hand?
I won't know that, until then.
