Unattainable Absurdity

Contributed by clarity_rising on Wednesday, 20th December 2006 @ 09:49:38 PM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

Someday, when the Earth and the Sun collide,
And all the stars are gone or faded,
With nothing left, but the two of us
In this great abyss of obscurity-
We,
You and I-
Can find solace in each others company-
With no one, and nothing,
To interfere
With a love that was never meant to be.

this is quite a melancholic poem---"when the Earth and Sun collide"...Is the hope of being together with that person so impossible? Embrace chance and take the initiative.
All the best!

cheers,
-glass

I like this. Your paring Doomsday imagery with solace and love ~ especially under the title in which you've posted ~ is incredibly effective and... *sigh*... sad. You've done well in your "attempt". This...

We,
You and I-

... tugs at me. "We", in and of itself, would have been sufficient, of course --- the clarifying "You and I"... is quite touching. Oh! that scribing one's wishes would make them so! I'm sorry (per my interpretation of this piece) to understand that not to be the case.

Wishing you well,
~Snemmy

I liked this because it is like the last one of yours I read - so specific and so general. Humans feel things so acutely sometimes - yearning and pain like this here - and it is such a universal individual experience.

I feel exactly this way about someone. I only wish things were different, but the universe is as it is supposed to be, if you're one to believe that. :)

Lovely! Sometimes it seems as if everything should come crashing down before it can work... I sense the longing and can identify in a measure, except it's not unrequited love but true love hampered by distance. I love the imagery and drama of this peice. It is magified by the directness and shortness of the piece. Well done.
