Days and weeks fall off the page
Leaving nothing but memory
Only Absence
So much sorrow.
searching to find the burn.

Falling off in a cold landing
Reaching something beyond new
Going nowhere
Leaving nothing.
finding nothing but the burn.

Planted in a winter garden
Cold fires burn the absence again
Saving futures
Reaching something.
keeping close to watch the burn.

Overgrown and out of luck
Being played on the ace of hearts
Turning careless
Burning absence.
one more year to feel the burn.
