if i had known
it would be so hard
to turn and walk away
that extra kiss
those last few words
i might have thrown away
for now my heart is tearing
ripping at the seams
for love that never finds itself able to show its face
how hard it is
to go back to the way my days used to go
i never felt pain like this
wrapped up in utter joy
memories of lovers
images of ecstasy
will forever linger on my mind
and saying goodbye
to hopes of something
that will never be is by far the hardest thing
i've ever had to do...
