the silence and emptiness of night

Dreamless Sleep
lie awake
screaming within to find an answer
to your desolation
yet all there is there is the silent darkness
and the sound of your tears and nothingness near

Silent screams, sad sorry soul,

A concise taste of your depths and perhaps this is why a fine way to say good bye is to say sweet dreams..

May You Have the Sweetest of Dreams

Well Done

Peace

Short, but direct. Excellent
word choice and display of
emotions. I really like this
poem.

Jenni, I love how you write something so simplistic but so very damn powerful. I understand these words and the terror felt, sometimes late at night when it seems the whole world has vanished, and your thoughts are the loudest damn thing you've ever heard. Good write.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

It's an effective piece... potent... and Sue's equally abbreviated comment of "I understand" was as well, I thought. Those of us (and yes... I, too, understand) who know the pain of "silent darkness", absent even the sound of another soul, nearby, drawing air in and out of their lungs as they sleep, will shudder a bit for having read this. It's truth is all too hard to bear.

I like to think that it must make us stronger. God... I hope at least we have that.

With a heavy sigh,
~Snem

Hey vampyress, thanks for the comment, i appreciate it hugely, lovely poem here, i know the feeling, an affective poem.

Awake

The slur of distant traffic,
Ever preasant,
Caged lamps spill light across the pavement,
An unknown voice pierces the night
I awaken...
