Lover's Last Thoughts

Contributed by Bishop_008 on Friday, 19th January 2007 @ 01:25:40 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Here, I lay silent. Your hands clenching mine
You tell me to hold on, and that I'll be fine
We both know ourselves that those words just aren't true
I can tell by your crying, and your sweaty palms too.

I start to cough blood and you flinch at the sight
The pain in my chest, I can no longer fight
Oh darling, I'm so glad I jumped in just before
The bullet threw you down, to die on this floor

I wish I could tell you how much I respect you
But the blood in my throat just will not let the words through
I feel myself slipping in a dizzying haze
Of rapid-speed visions of happier days

I see us in Paris, our 1-year last November
I don't need to remind you, I know you remember
Now I feel nothing but the warmth of your touch
Goodbye and so long, I love you so much...

The scene unfolded right before my eyes.
I about had a tear or two welling up in my eyes as well. You wrote this with greatness.
