There was a time...

There was a time when i didn't have anything and i was happy, over a period of time i got everything that i always desired and stopped been happy.
Today i lie broken with the decision that i made, Do i regret the decision i made? No i don't, I did what was correct in that moment of time.
One always thinks that one has loads of time, but fails to realise that every second, every minute counts, whats lost never comes back, specially time.
There are highs and lows in life, from every steel climb there is an equally steep fall, we always need to move on irrespective of what happens to us and that's life.
Where do i go from this crossroad of life? Right, left, straight, backwards, forward, where? Some many roads to chose from but each road is full of uncertainty, who said somethings are certain in life ? nothing is, not even us.
There was a time when i was happy, today am i happy after losing most of the things that count in our so called world? The answer that i get is, Yes i am, i have lost most of my worldly possessions, I have nothing more to lose but myself.

I love the honesty in this. Some people are so wrapped up in their worldly possessions that such becomes like crutches for them, and without them....they'd have no ability to stand. Sometimes, when we have less...we have more because we find out who we truly are and we learn a little something about survival. I am glad you have found the true meaning of happiness does not dwell in what worldly things you may own, but lives within appreciating what you have and making the most of it. I can relate to your poem, each question asked....each statement made. Terrific ending, wonderful poem. |
