Caught in the Mire

I'm picking up the pieces of a broken dream,
gonna set them aside or so it seems,
and try, ... not to look back.

Oh, I know it'll be hard, but that's alright,
'Cos I know what's best, I know what's right.
I know, ... fantasy from fact.

The 'getting over you' is gonna be tough,
My heart'll break, it's gonna be rough,
Like the raging sea, rockin' a boat.

I'll be depressed and mourn for a while.
I'm gonna miss your laugh and miss your smile.
But I know, ... I will stay afloat

Why, oh why did we ever meet?
This whole darn thing has been bittersweet,
like a mirage, of my hearts desire.

You're so far away, but yet so near;
close to my heart, oh my dear,
It's killing me, I'm caught in the mire;

... Caught in the mire.
