Someday

I wonder why you don't like me
If there's something that I did wrong
I know that you used to like me...
O, for you, how much I long.

Your jet black hair and your piercing blue eyes
Your face, your voice, your laugh
O just to have a day with you
It would fly by so fast.

We exchanged numbers over a year ago
And I don't understand our fate
You were in Texas, I in Hawaii
I guess it was too long for you to wait.

I see you almost everyday
My favorite bartender, of course, is you
Even if I don't feel like drinking
I come just for the nice view.

I love that you let me watch what I want on TV
And that you always know what I'll want to see
I love that you'll give me free credits for the jukebox
And you'll play Frank Sinatra for me.

I love that you bring the paper for me every Sunday
And make sure the crosswords are saved
And that I have a pen, a cold beer, and anything else
You seem so perfect in everyway.

I sit and pretend I'm not listening
While your chatting it up with your friends
But when I hear you speak of other girls
My heart breaks over and over again.

I know you must know that I like you
But to me, you won't come near
I wonder what I may have done
To inject in you this fear.

It seems you will go to any girl
And that there's a new one everyday
And it kills me that you slept with my bestfriend
And with yet another, a baby is on the way.

Last night we watched a movie
Although there was another person beside
But to feel your hand on my back
Sent chills up and down my spine.

I laid my head down on your thigh
I felt your fingers brush against me so light
I wish I could've stayed there forever
All day and all of the night.

I don't understand why you won't touch me
Or why you don't think of me in that way
I hope that you will, and that you'll see it real soon
And we'll be together someday...

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
