A Family Secret

Contributed by whiteleo1984 on Tuesday, 27th February 2007 @ 01:07:05 AM in AEST
Topic: fictional

She walks down the road that she has traveled several times before.
This lonely road by her house is familiar, and she knows every turn.
At the end of the road stands a man, he has been standing there watching her.
She does not know the man, nor has she seen him before.
The man makes a motion towards her, and grabs her by the hand.
He drags her into a dark area, he takes what he wants and leaves her in a bloody mess.
Sirens are heard for miles as paramedics and police make it to the scene.
The girl is pronounced dead on site, no hope could save her.
Only two blocks from her destination, and she lost her life.
Yes, people heard the commotion, they heard her screams.
But in the end, no one really cared, no one came to her aid.
They say this is a safe neighborhood, a safe place to live.
Maybe they will re-think that after this incident.
How do I know these things you may ask?
I was there that night, I saw what happened but did not say a word.
For that man, that monster that took her life.
That man, I know him very well, I gave him the ride.
I picked him up afterwards and dropped him off later.
I was a part of this incident without laying a hand on that girl.
I can't tell the police about this, I can't tell anyone.
I can't do it, because that man is my brother.

I'm sure as fictional it is for you...it is an everyday nightmare for another..betrayal of a family member blankets so many afraid to speak their truth. Great insight. Thans
