What They SEE vs. What They SHOULD See

Contributed by justagirl82 on Wednesday, 7th March 2007 @ 05:47:17 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I walk down the hall
What do I see?
Bullying
Haters
Stereotypical people
Re-affirmers
Gossiping
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What do they see?
A
Mean,
Harsh,
Pretty but not beautiful,
Girl.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What should they see?
A woman broken by a cruel past
Someone who has stared down death and still lives
Someone who has had her heart destroyed
Someone who has memories
Someone who has been through more hard times than almost conceivable
Someone who loved
Someone who lost
Someone judged
Someone misunderstood by a world not made for her
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And after reading this
One would think they began to understand
Lifes funny like that,
Because they still have no idea
And probably never will
Life's funny like that 'cause we haven't ceased to exist
aby girl
Things seem the way they do because they are.
We all see it, but you put it down in time.
Stronger are those...
...We are the meek
If not for us
There would be no one to put it in ink
Understand what they need
& what they want
They could not have life without you
We are the ones
We will tell them what they see
And although the past seems to detour
we remember what we see
something out of the pain of me
The golden rule
Please treat me the same
They don't see til
Til you carve it into the soul of thee
We are the harvest
We live thru the pain
We deliever the pain, joy
Everything that makes us be
every joy
every emotion
that makes us real
-No one would feel
or try to see
If there weren't poeple
As thee.-
There is such power in developing your own sense of awareness. Then it becomes easy to adjust yourself accordingly to almost anything. A truth, for me, is that it is far better to understand than to be understood. In the former lies your own power and perception, while in the latter you give that up to someone else whom you will probaly react to a some point. Not that both concepts aren't important, but I have to ask myself where in lies my control, over what they think or over what I know? Sometimes when I find myself in such a position I simply observe and give thanks for what I am not.
If it helps at all I can say I understand. Great poem and that always leads to emotional release. Hope it helped. Peace.
Actually, I do understand. I have written about some of my expierences to cleanse my mind and soul. It seems to help. I dunno....... But we all live in our own little hell, eh? I hope you find peace, as I did appreciate this write. It speaks volumes! Kudos!
Peace to you,
Thumper ;o)
