Cant take much more!

Contributed by lowman613 on Tuesday, 25th February 2003 @ 12:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

Weve been married now for almost 7 years,
Yet being a truckers wife is tough,
going through the emotions & tears,
not seeing you every day is rough!

Sometimes I feel were not even married at all,
like were divorced living on our own,
Waiting every moment for your call,
only hoping that you would be home,

I cant take much more of this,
Its killing me inside,
all the things you miss,
from traveling far & wide,

gone through out the week,
The kids have a weekend dad,
We are all getting a little weak,
it's really rather sad,

We try to be strong,in what you strive,
the pain we hide through tears,
to make money you have to drive,
you've done this for years,

We can only take so much,
I know you can too,
Were loosing the touch,
what can we do?

So much stress in us both,
The kids are feeling it as well,
Your job we all loath,
its hard to come out & tell,

We miss you here where you should be,
the weekends are not enough,
driving on the high ways away from me,
has gotten to be tough!

How sad, but right from the heart. A man is known by what he does and he gets his feeling of self worth from it. Providing for his family is essential to his well being.
Isn't it a shame that so many men realize too late that
what they had at home was far better than what the gypsy life rewards them with. I don't know what your circumstances are, but perhaps you need to lay down the law to him as to what his priorities should be before it is too late for your family.
Love,
Rob

Oh Christina, I would feel the same way too. It must be so hard on you all - and shouldering the burden of bringing the kids up on your own must be tough too. Doing family things together is so important. I guess there is no real solution except to make the most of the time you have. I can just imagine though, that he is tired when he gets home and just wants to rest. A vicious circle. .... Actually this reminds me of a poem that a very good friend of mine wrote about the loneliness of trucking - I will ask him if I can send it to you. ... Love Jan
