  Social

societys ignorance

Topic: StoryPoetry

every day i look and see
how our great society
is made of all different people
and it makes me start to feel
that we should just disregard
the color of all skin and start
to treat everybody the same
and stop playing this hate game
colors not significant
we should start to implement
a plan to help us ralixze
the person thats before our eyes
is the same as everyone
it doesnt matter where thery're from
let me make this accurate
there's no turning back from it
please listen while i explain
there is so much we can gain
if the world stopped being blind
they just might wake up and find
we all have a lot to share
let me try to make it clear
we use the same air to breath
our hearts all beat underneath
love helps everyone to thrive
food is what keeps us alive
shelter keeps us from the cold
we're all born and then grow old
we c an laugh or we can cry
we all tell truths and even lie
we all have dreams and wish on stars
sometimes life can leave us scars
we have weaknesses and try
to find our strength from deep inside
so please quit being ignorant
lets all be polite and grant
the respect this world deserves
we're all living on this earth
so lets all try to get along
there's enough things going wrong
without all this hostility
and racist negativity

This poem is the reflection of how screwed up human beings are as a society... we think so much of our civilization and achievements as a species, but we are unable to set aside century-old prejudices and barriers that have no reason to be in this time. You'd think that if we are able to build skyscrapers and space rockets we'd be able to build a society where people are valued for their individual achievements and distinct personalities rather than their race... but somehow we just can't manage that. Thank you for sharing this, you remind us how ridiculous humans can be in an age where we consider ourselves to be the enlightened masters of our universe, when we can't even master our own animalistic prejudices..

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
