Too long sipping from the poison chalice of deception Blissfully unaware that sweet nectar never was So many times have I looked and never seen the real you Demon masked by the face of an innocent
Trust now broken, burns in the fire Friendship raised to ashes where once was fertile ground Remove the cloak, its purpose lost, exposed your naked soul Words once held meaningful, now mock the sickened mind
Scars of battle I will carry to the end Wounds to be healed by the slow tick of time The ground I gave you freely I move to reclaim Be gone from the realm of present thoughts, I will lock you in the past
For those of you who follow, led blindly by the hand To linger here is folly, heed these warning signs Pause for more than moments on ground that will deceive And slowly sink until you choke, within the swamp of lies

Wise and wonderful words. It is most difficult for people to be truthful...WHY? Truth is earning respect, chancing to trust, risking our inner feelings and desires...why can't we share our truth????I really haven't found the answer to that one. Are they really afraid of disappointing us that much???Great piece and a good Question! |

I'm glad to hear you have left
this person behind. I have left
a few liars myself and am much
better off because I left. I really
enjoyed this poem and hope you
find many who will serve as true
friends to you. Good luck , Truly ,

Very intellectually presented with a gentle flow of words.
"Trust now broken, burns in the fire
Friendship raised to ashes where once was fertile ground
Remove the cloak, its purpose lost, exposed your naked soul
Words once held meaningful, now mock the sickened mind"
very meaningful verses Indeed.
