The Kiss of Betrayal

Contributed by FRANCO on Sunday, 1st April 2007 @ 10:11:35 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Two millenniums passed
yet lingers the kiss of betrayal
deep buried in our hearts
like a piercing spike of venom.

Memory roll backward to that night,
sending shivers of fright, as
creatures of the night prowl he alone
kneeled gazing above and bawled.

Far from the darkness, appeared dots
of torchlights carried by hired goons marched
to capture the peaceful moon, he who, quietly
shed tears of blood to forgive the approaching goons.

Light of peace still glowing
from his face, preached love and
forgiveness as death entangled his base
like a nightmarish lace.

A sheep from his own flock stepped
forward sheepishly to plant the kiss of
betrayal, stunning evil soul to cease
for mere silvery piece.
Seasons passed years rolled by but time stood
still in our hearts as the testimony of a lowly human heart

Franco, you never cease to deliver a very emotion-filled
write. As Loriann stated, this is absolutely perfect timing
with Easter coming on ..

You did justice to a subject that has been so often written
about. Your unique approach and beautiful sadness
within the words was enough to almost break my heart.

Thank you for sharing this, my friend.

Time seems to fly by so quickly in our era, but your "time stood still" pause to reflect and remember has been duly noted by this reader. So, too, has the emotion embedded here and the rhymes that you've employed to carry the reader forward through the piece.

Nicely done, Franco.
