The Underdog

They told me stories drawn from all mythos of fantastic interventions and aid from the unlikeliest of sources.
Times legendary could be dog-eared by their downfallen and ---- upon, and the great lengths to which theyd go to find wealth, success, redemption, or love, never without grand luck or ethereal favor.
The story of the underdog lies engrained in our very notion of The American Dream, in the thrill of all games and sport, in our capitalism, our meritocracy, our politics, and our celebrity.
And after a little work, a little luck, and a little laziness, I find myself an overlord, governing the play of all in my sphere as I influence fortunes with a crooked smile.
And superstition never leaves the room. Artifacts, trinkets, badges, and rituals weigh heavy in the lightest of decisions, guide false pretense, and pour forth miracles.
But as the largest superstition of all draws us in perfect celestial syzygy, with all of space-time aligned, not in an impossible straight line, but in a living golden spiral, fluxing gravity, tide, light, and motion, and rendering static all states of being divinity itself is channeled into that yellow room, liquefying its spirits and eaux de vie, as they erode crystalline rocks, piled high.
And with a hardy Cheers! this brutal underdog pulls on, feeling no hand nor ghost to make things right, and knowing only that persistence and will can accomplish this Herculean task, that despite the stories of a thousand generations, I am truly alone, surrounded by endless resources and tools, and forced to craft for myself an Athena to power and guide me, to ease my burden, as I move forward in life.
