The Past

Topic: Lifepoems

In reference to my current relationship, I trust my woman 1000%, but I am having a hard time dealing with some of her past that shows up in email form or on the phone. I see the red flags from them that their intentions are not true, and she doesn't. I try not to engage in to much talk to her about this, cause I dont want her to think I dont trust her, cause I do, and after my roller coaster ride in life, I wouldnt be with her if I didnt trust her, however, she is the type of woman who does not like conflict, and will put certain past figures who still pop up in our present in their place when she deems it necessary. Sometimes that can be to late in my eyes. So do I take over and protect my interest (my fiance') or do I give her the respect he deserves as a human being, and her let it play out her way, and hope that all ends well? Comments and Advice please.............thanks

The Past

The present is now superseded by the past, even as I write these words in the here and now. That period indicates the thought process I went through and the typing of that sentence is in the past. Again, the present is now in the past to be reviewed in the future.

The word past in adjective form can be best described as no longer current, gone by and over with. To continue, the past existed or occurred in an earlier time. This means earlier than the present time, which ironically enough, is now the past.

Past being used as a noun describes and explains the time before the present. The past can include, but is not limited to, previous background, career, experiences, activities and mates.
The past many times includes a former period of someones life kept secret, tucked away in their subconscious, but more times than none, are often recalled based on words, music, thoughts and reminiscing in the present, allowing the past to become vividly present around them, projecting an un secure and fearful environment in many different ways to those that are close to the recalled.
The past can also in hold a secret or thought which to the individual can be thought to be shameful.
When someone slips into a past tense state in the present, pondering and thinking of which had happened before, now just a mental image, or a physical scar, that bears only signs of the past, but what proof is found the past existed, and why do we dwell more on the past than the present. One would say that the present is redundant or obsolete, since when the first second of the present is realized, it now becomes the past.
The past can also be defined as prior. The word prior in adjective form describes Preceding in time or order. If it is important that time must be preceded in order, and then in a relationship, Preceding is of equal importance, in that, the important value of Preceding is of a prior consideration.
If in a relationship, ones past or prior considerations prominently enter the present state on even a somewhat consistent occurrence, the other mate, whether secure or not in the relationship, whether jealous or not, begins to wonder why his or her prior considerations are so important, and must be kept available at his or her disposal, even when the past to the mate is so unknown and dark and brings present fear, which turns to past fear, and will always remain an intimidating fear in the future, which once again, is a vicious circle with the future becoming the past, present and the future again.
As humans seeking the right soul mate, the question arises to me, that, are we emotionally stable enough and mentally able to allow us in a present relationship to allow even the minute talk or short greeting of ones personal prior consideration to enter our present, only to plague the doomed past of the future?
As humans, I dont feel that we are able to comprehend, absorb, have faith and trust in a present relationship, when prior considerations of ones past enter their realms without the thought process and consideration of the mate who has allowed its Preceding visitor to embark on their doorstep, without taking into the consideration that the present relationship, which now bears its own past, and hopefully will have a solid future, is somewhat felt tainted by the other mates allowed past to remain active in the circle of past to present to future and around we go again.
The word past as a noun is best described as past events surrounding a person or thing, such as their background, history and former happenings.
Not all of ones past should be kept out of a relationship. But a former period of time or of one's life, which was yesterday, either in one day or decades, in a relationship, an unexpected or re occurring Preceding consideration of ones mate, can easily be deemed or construed both emotionally and mentally by the mate standing by, biting his or her nails, as best described:
Idioms: bygone days, days gone by, the good old days, the old days.

The most common fear in Idioms in a relationship, is the relationship Idioms beginning with the past. But not their past, but the past of their preceding others.
A mate can easily fall into an emotional trap of feeling and thinking that their mate is living in the past which will eventually lead to a manic false realization and a state of panic changing ones once protected thought of security to the statement of not put something past anyone.
So to me, its clear that the current, future, and present all ends up in the past, waiting for the remote thought and energy to recall it and bring it into the present as a preceding or prior entity.
In closing, even if we take our past experiences, chalk them up to knowledge and experience, we as humans, appear to never learn from the past, whether its in a relationship or life itself. To me the past, which at the time it occurred, was for the most part pure and real, but once past, it lurks and reeks of evil lurking in the shadows of most minds awaiting its chance to prevail again.
It is my conclusion, that human beings, man or woman, dont know really anything about being happy in the present, therefore they seek the past allowing it to stay vivid in the future to as blindside them as portraying a state of happiness in the present, only to end up as a past memory and experience to achieve happiness, but instead a neglected and wasteful period of knowledge, left behind to protect and enhance the new present, past and future cycle is ignored and doomed to be banished and written in the scribed scrolls of the Devilish past as described below from a library reference from the Devils Dictionary. Hence the proof that the devil is alive and well with more proof of his present state, then the past scriptures of a god that seems to only be that: a Preceding consideration of those, who while in the past perhaps believed in him, but provided no knowledge or experience for the future to show proof in the present, but only to give us false hope of a future of eternity with him.

A cynical view of the world by Ambrose Bierce
Past
n.
That part of Eternity with some small fraction of which we have a slight and regrettable acquaintance. A moving line called the Present parts it from an imaginary period known as the Future. These two grand divisions of Eternity, of which the one is continually effacing the other, are entirely unlike. The one is dark with sorrow and disappointment, the other bright with prosperity and joy. The Past is the region of sobs, the Future is the realm of song. In the one crouches Memory, clad in sackcloth and ashes, mumbling penitential prayer; in the sunshine of the other Hope flies with a free wing, beckoning to temples of success and bowers of ease. Yet the Past is the Future of yesterday, the Future is the Past of to-morrow. They are one -- the knowledge and the dream.
