I've got something that I
Would like to tell you
'Cause I know what you want to say
And I don't think that I would have
The heart to tell you
Any other way
I know that we've been through alot together
And I'm thankful for the times you've been my shoulder
With my tears on your shirt
Telling you that I've been hurt
When I could never find the words

You have always been there
And I want you to know that I care
But it's eating at me
Something you and I both see
It's so obvious sometimes that you want more

But just let me be a smile on your face
Let my memory be that light in your eyes
And may you always remember me this way
Think of me as something that went right
'Cause I don't want to be
A past that's meant to be
Replaced

Now please don't get me wrong
When I say this
'Cause jaded as I am I know
Your heart is more than his
Ever was back then
And I guess I'm over him
But tell me what happens when
We don't work

I can't take that risk
I like the way it is
I know that it's cliche
But I can't take giving someone that I love away
Like I've done before

So just let me be a smile on your face
And let our memories bring a certain light to your eyes
May you always remember us this way
Think of it as something
That we both did right
'Cause I refuse to be
Another past that's meant to be
Replaced

Don't give me the chance to break your heart
Don't let me ruin something good, you know I like this way
And I won't give you the option of tearing mine apart
'Cause friends are friends forever anyway

I hope you always remember us this way
And think of it as something
That we both did right
'Cause I know you don't want to be
A past that's meant to be
Replaced

A wonderful piece that shows friends are the truest relationships we have...and going beyond that is too darn risky if it means losing that friend. Friends can not be replaced....lovers can.Great truth here.
