You told me youd meet me on this corner. Ive been waiting for you smoking cigarettes. There are several crushed butts by my shoes.
Youve not arrived yet and Im beginning to think youve stood me up. I have a little something for you in my pocket and its yours when you get here.
The afternoon is getting late and store lights are beginning to turn on. My little gift is all nicely wrapped and I paid a lot of money for it.
We can go to a near coffee shop and sit there talking. We can drink our coffee and I can tell you things that are on my mind. Theyve been there a long time.
Youve not come yet and Ive run out of cigarettes. I guess Ill just turn up the collar of my coat against the cold and wait a little longer. You will come.

Wow. I'm having trouble finding words right now. I felt so lonely reading this. (and hoping you picked up those butts and trashed them *wink*) The waiting you made almost palpable with your words. Well written.
Thank you for sharing.
Peace and hugs,

This was well expressed. I felt the lonliness and despair and the waiting that you put into this poem. It was a good poem. I hope that she will come. Don't lose hope but don't wait forever. Great poem.
Take care
