The Encounter

Jade-
LItle girl, little desperate, but nice.
You gave her in and rolled her dice.
Th sickly sound of crackling bliss
is something from now she will always miss.

Matt
Young round boy with short blond hair,
with ambitions and full of his mother fear.
Now selling, yelling, gone for good.
The evidence piles up with YOU understood.

Edi
Almost cured but on the edge,
ready to stick with the sobriety badge.
You say your name. The dice is cast.
Forget the future. Repeat the past.

Jared
Nineteen and careless in a relationship fair,
he follows your voice after that long stare
and leaves for ever the potential glee
with you and white to a snow storm flees.

All of those and many more
you hand picked from the ocean and brought to the shore,
fed them with lies and killed them inside.
Pride and cofnidence fulfillment provide.

After your forward motion has made me mute
as you were standing next to the man in the suit
I tried so hard though I couldn't forget
the sight of your gun by MIckey's head.
And since there was no respect for you that I could feel
I looked in your eyes. Turned on my heel.
I hope for good future from your fast lane past
Because coke, guns and crack don't always last.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
