In Spite of You

Contributed by Chamaron on Monday, 7th May 2007 @ 12:38:33 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

In the family that upstands
There remains but one demand.
To undo the child already unwritten,
Unbite pure skin mistakably bitten.

Illusion of perfection to uphold,
No time for child to be consoled.
Already in a cupboard do they hide,
Convinced life is no fun ride.

Pearls on neck and deception on face,
Anyone with individuality is a disgrace.
Think for self they must not do,
Disown the child that has disowned you.

Forget they are but sprouting up,
Slap the face of an innocent pup.
Think of self and self alone,
Lock away the rebel-prone.

How do they look from the outside?
For only to mirrors will do they abide.
Write fake rules for lives they dont possess,
Leave the child to over faults obsess.

When child rises from the fall at last,
They will without shame stride past.
After successes, for they will outdo,
They will say it was in spite of you.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
