Two In One

Mirror, mirror, two beings in one, One soul through another, come then gone. There is a being standing in shame, Double, triple her life, it's still the same.
One is bliss, caring, and free, the other not wanting society. One is cheerful, full of life, The other will silently kill with a knife.
Light, dark, shine then fade, Bright smile... to darkening facade. Like a simple act, plain simple stake, How it turns wonderful, but really it's fake.
It's a stick and stone, breaking bones, Words WILL hurt, just be alone. You're losing a battle of being you, Sick of acting what isn't true.
The mind is skeptical, thinking of pain, Again, asking if you're insane. Because here you are, on your feet, Looking glass, someone else you meet.
There, it's you, looking back at you, With a look and smirk you'd never do. You're in private, alone, that's good, That's the only time you're understood.
The other you, the other me, The opposite of what they see. They can never see that, can't chop you apart, And see what you want to do, inside your heart.
Easily fooled, you're two in one, One soul through the other, come then gone. You're hiding yourself, hiding your ache, Acting as if everything's okay -- but really, it's fake.

You did an excellent job expressing ones' polarities. I think we all feel like that a time or two. We have this one side that is neat, proper and presentable and this other side that is messy, improper and needs tucked away. (at least I feel that way) Enjoyed the write. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura |
