Follow Me, Consume Me

Contributed by Arwen on Friday, 28th February 2003 @ 12:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: happypoetry

Music flows over me...drawing me into another realm.
Devoid of responsiblities, of problems...of insane questions.
Flowing through my veins invigorating everything in it's path.

Arms move fluidly, perfectly choreographed...following the sound, the tempting inviting beats,
Adrenaline pouring all over my senses.
Drums smashing all over me, lightning crashing in the distance.
Bringing euphoria in its wake.
Sense of weightlessness
No thoughts...nothing! :))

It moves me, frees me
Just pure uninhibited movement.
Feet tap out on their own accord...a sequence
All sound, all the magic becomes part of me. I listen.

Words wash over me, bringing with it compassion, understanding...happiness.
They speak to me in ways that nothing else can.
Crawling in...they lie there.

Taking me...showing me places,
Music, control me, consume me.
Take me by the hand and
Become me.

It's so real...haunting how I watch my shadow
My moving reflection.
Lost to everything, no-one can take it away.
Music still plays...deep in my soul.

And bemused,
Something inside me...

Smiles.

Everyone, I'm sure, would love to escape to an ideal world, especially when things get rough in life. You've painted a nice picture of a parallel world where there is a way out. For me, as well, music and dance are expressions of this, a way to lift off the burdens and drudgery of daily existence. Nicely done.
