fare thee well my friend, you were a rose i am grateful to have known you in prose, we shared a great deal over many years on love, in laughter, and the bite of tears, speechless by your passing, your repose makes difficult, now to properly compose, a friend in words who was dear in my life one who understood the pain of griefs knife, yet gratefully touched many with sunshine those crossed over will know your rhyme, for we earthly ones of you no soon return for you now dwell where you so yearned, i will remember of you, a beauty and grace determination, honesty, kindness and trace-
these memories of you gently along my heart.

Loved the Poe quote, Nessa. I am with Michelle, this was a beautiful write. Why is it so hard on those who get left behind? I know RIta is happy where she is...reunited with her husband. Many here will miss her. I hadn't talked to her since she left the site the last time. We sent a few email jokes back and forth and then nothing. I guess her health had been failing?
Thanks for sharing.
Peace and hugs,
Laura |

I feel a great sense of loss because I did not know this poet who has struck these wonderful words, as well as the words of many others tonight. This was quite the poetic and beautiful proclamation. One I am sure will reach the heights of heaven and cradle her to sleep. My sincere condolences on this loss to YPDC which seems so great even to those who did not know her at all.
BRAVO!

I never had the chance to read this poet but I can tell that if she moved ladyfawn this way I would have loved her works. Wonderful job ladyfawn. A poets heart to pen filled with love is seen right here. How lucky we are here to share and care that deeply. Bless you. |

nessa, wow. I was so moved by this. Driven to the point of tears, even,
for I know the kindness that dwells in your heart and I can also envision
Rita's reaction. I know she must be overwhelmed by the outpour of
emotion from all the wonderful poets who knew her, and those that can
only imagine her, through works such as this. We were blessed to know
her, as we are to all have each other. No one knows the heart of a poet, quite
like that of another poet.
Lovely write, my friend. Exceptionally touching.

Dear lady, I came back to read today, for I'd been thinking of your title "fare thee well" and the similiar line from a beautiful Grateful Dead song that was written by the very fine poet, Robert Hunter.
I wanted to share the lyrics with you...seems to go with things here, right now...
"Broke-down Palace"
Words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia
Copyright Ice Nine Publishing; used by permission.
Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you alone
Goin to leave this Broke-down Palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time - in my time - I will roll roll roll
In a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
River gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back back home
It's a far gone lullaby
sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come
since I first left home
Goin home, goin home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
Goin to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go - the river roll roll roll
Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul
Peace,
Laura (fare you well Rita)

I see in one of the comments that this poem is dedicated to Rita. Rita I knew well she was very kind to my poems and stories. I would like to join you in this poem of great beauty and yes tragedy of a very sad loss. I could write more but at the moment I am overwhelmed. Bern |

Dear Nessa,
It's only now after all this time that I'm able to speak of my dear friend Rita. We were very close, and acknowledged each other as Big Sis and Little Sis. I was like part of her family, as she allowed me to love her dear Mother Beulah, who is very lonely now without her!
She never allowed any of us to know how very ill she was. Her Mother told me she was in pain daily. She was a dear soul, that had suffered very much, and yet her poetry was so upbuilding, and rarely sad.
Oh how I miss her and her emails.
Your poem was so touching, and will be appreciated so very much by her dear Mother.
Warm love,
consue |
