For the man who introduced me to the world of poems,
he passed away recently.

I still remember the first time you told me to recite a poem,
I did, though it was not my poem.

Reading a poem opened the doors of a new world for me,
all thanks to you, applause, recognition and fame suddenly started following me.

You hand held and let me in the world of words,
you helped me learn how to play with words.

Even before I realized it,
words became my best friends,
For everyday, situation, emotions, people and a lot of things,
I always was helped by my wordily friends.

"Be a walking talking dictionary"
"Be the man who understands the language of silence"
Converting everything I experienced daily,
in words became a part of my daily itinerary.

When I wrote my first book of poems you patted on my back,
I felt more than mine,
it was you seeing your dream come true.
I can still feel the gentle pat on my back.

As time progressed I got busy,
words were still my friends,
many things eat away my time,
I still could push in a small meeting at least once in a while with you my friend.

The last time we met you seem to be lost.
the pace of today's life,
the relentless exploitation of individuals and depreciation of basic human values seem to bother you.

I wish I knew the conversation that I was having with you then would be our last,
as days passed by I got busy,
life seems so fast.

The rat race never seem to end,
life kept me busy in the rat race,
while you my friend were nearing towards your earthly life's end.

Now you dwell in the heaven with God,
I am sure you still must be writing daily and sharing your poems with God.

Even while passing into the next world you hand held me and taught many lessons:
"Remember do as much good as you can to your fellow human beings and this world in a discrete way."
"Remember silence speaks"
"Remember life is not about how long you live,
it about how well you live"
"Remember your parents, without them we are like strangers roaming on planet earth"
"Remember money is a mean and not the end"
"Remember to share, encourage and be honest"
"Remember simplicity still works"
"Remember I will not be there forever but my thoughts will prevail with you,
always."
"Remember not to shed tears for me because I will find it very difficult to hold them"
"Remember to move on, as I have, now you no longer see me, I stay in your heart"
"Remember every time your heart throbs, its me who is there with you"
"Remember to fall in love with life again and again because who knows if you will be born again"

As I learned the last few lessons from you,
I felt your hand slipping away from mine,
I tried my best but I couldn't hold on to you.
I shouted My friend don't leave me"
you replied I never have, I never will, everytime you close your eyes, write a poem, help someone, live the values that we shared, you will see me, thats my promise"
