As the clouds grip the sun we speak Only of unimportant things Avoiding the one thing on our minds Why on earth are we here? Driving on an endlesss road Bumping, falling, dying Father and daughter, but no emotion Genetics don't create 'Love". How could I give a damn about you?
As the clouds wisk away the sun We speak of things we think are important Like college and insurance Even having a family of our own But we of course avoid what's really ON OUR MINDS What brought us here? Not the cars, our minds perhaps... Somehow I needed to know Was I ready? If I was then why do I question? Maybe because we are both pathetic fools.
As the clouds dissappear and reveal the stars I'm now on your porch But really in my bed, remembering those times Back then Feeling like my world is missing But you're certainly not my world Maybe I feel my world is missing Because I'm not the girl I knew The night before.

Very nice poem. I appreciate how you are confronting something that needs to be confronted, but that is very uncomfortable. You do a great job of showing the subtle ways people communicate without really communicating. And you also touch on a problem that many people have with their parents, mainly that something gets in the way of us really knowing each other.
Be True,
