There Once Was this Wind

There once was a wind, so beautiful and pure, I knew I belonged, of this I was sure. I'd stand there and bask in the brilliance of its beat, While trying not to get swept up off my feet. It blew and blew, almost lulling to sleep, Paralyzed and numb, my thoughts ran so very deep. All this and it knew all my fears, Understood and blew them away, making it clear. Then one day, with the wind there beside me, I came to the sea, and I fell to one knee. Looking to the heavens, I made all my peace, For when I got in my sailboat, all of my will would then cease. The wind would take me, as fast as it could, Outrunning the land we both understood. But in the end it was too much, there in my boat, The mast was snapped off; I'm now doomed here to float.
