I Believe
I believe poetry is
Simply a message from above
An encouraging note from our Father
Unto tender hearts with love
I believe our hearts are journals
Soft tablets of clay
Upon which He writes
“I love you everyday”
I believe He sorrows
Every time we cry
Hurts watching us learn the hard way
With tears He wonders, “Why”
I believe He smiles
Every time we pray
Is anxious to help us
Heap blessings everyday
I believe He loves us
Far more than we’ll ever understand
Wants us to be His friend
Rather than at His command
I believe that’s why I write
Why I must answer the call
For He is within me
The sweetest prose of all!
