He said I come with open arms
And I pray you heed my word
But we all just stood, to gawk and stare
And thought it all absurd
And I heard him cry a mournful cry
As the tears fell down his face
And I heard him scream and beg and plead
The sincerity of his case
And there I did bare witness
Though it shames me to admit
For I was one, like all the rest
To play my chosen bit
To turn an ear both deaf and dumb
Though no one dared to speak
We held our tongue, and at least for some
With a tear upon our cheek
And I saw again the sadness
From the look up in his eyes
As all those now around him
Bade his words were naught but lies
And I bowed my head in silence
As not to look his way again
And this now I do tell you
Is the cause of all my sin

DAMN!!!!
I can't tell you how much I NEEDED to read something like this tonight.
The flow of this was beautiful and the rhyming just as so. But, friend, the
message was most inspirational! I do know what this is about, but really
it could be applied to anyone at any moment. wow, again! I am in awe. Both
because you did such a wonderful job with this, and because, it's as if you
read my mind ... and constructed this just for me.
Thank you for this post. It harbours a comfort, even though it is tremendous
in its anguish and sorrow. Well done, poet. Very well done, indeed!!
